Applicants for the Global Talent Independent visa must be internationally recognized, currently prominent in their field, and able to provide evidence of outstanding achievements over their career. This may include senior roles, patents, professional awards, and international publications and memberships.
They must provide evidence that they would be an asset to Australia in their area of expertise and have no difficulty obtaining employment in the country or becoming established in their field.
Applicants must be able to obtain a nomination from a recognized organization or individual in Australia, in the same field as the applicant.
Places are also available to PhD graduates and certain PhD students who are nearing completion of their thesis and can demonstrate their exceptional talent and international recognition in a target sector.
To apply under the Global Talent Independent Program, applicants are required to lodge an expression of interest. The necessary documents for this lodgement include a detailed résumé or curriculum vitae and a brief statement describing their profession, internationally recognized achievements, relevant prominence in their field, and how they intend on being an asset to the Australian community. Australia’s standard health and character assessments apply.
The application processing time is nine–twelve months.
