Dear Friends,
Thank you for your support throughout 2024. Your support of the Rehman Sheriff Group (RSG) has enabled us to grow, expand, and provide meaningful services that have positively impacted Australian immigration.
I am also writing to provide a brief summary of 2024, an outlook on Australian immigration and what RSG has planned for 2025.
Milestones of 2024
2024 has been an exceptional year for RSG. Some of our most important milestones are outlined below.
Firm Growth
- Expanded the size of the firm’s operational team in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
- RSG became one of the first Australian Corporate Service Providers for IFZA in the UAE.
- Introduced new services to assist Australian immigration more broadly, offering assistance across all visa subclasses.
- Automated the firm’s visa processing to minimize the risk of client information errors and improve efficiency.
- Established Rehman Sheriff Group Skills to help Australian businesses find the talent and labor they need to thrive and grow.
- Welcomed several senior lawyers to our team in Australia.
Community Initiatives
- Supported and directly funded the “Riverina Community Hub,” which provides outreach services to multicultural children in the Riverina region.
- Supported and continue to sponsor the Salaam Institute in its mission to foster understanding and harmony among all Australians.
- Sponsored Komigen Inc., a community-based charity organization in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales.
- Partnered with Victoria University’s Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program to support internship opportunities at RSG.
Australian Immigration Changes
As the year comes to a close, Australian immigration law continues to change.
The Skills in Demand (SID) and National Innovation Visa (NIV) programs were launched on 7 December 2024.
While both the SID and NIV may seem like rebrands, the subtle changes they introduce present various opportunities for businesses and visa applicants alike.
I encourage businesses facing labor shortages to consider the SID as an opportunity to find and retain the skilled workers they need. On the other hand, the NIV opens doors for global experts and highly skilled migrants.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about these changes or Australian immigration law in general.
Looking Ahead to 2025
2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year with the introduction of RSG Skills.
Australian businesses cannot grow without the right skills, and it is our mission to ensure that the necessary talent comes to Australia to address key challenges, including infrastructure and housing shortages.
Based on the findings of the Australian Labour Market for Migrants report, Australia faces a critical workforce shortage whose supply significantly lags behind the demand driven by housing and infrastructure needs. Our focus in 2025 will be on assisting businesses that are especially in need of technicians and trade workers.
The firm will also continue offering inbound services to the UAE for individuals and businesses looking to expand into the region. With the new trade agreement in place, the opportunities between Australia and the UAE are significant.
Finally, I wish you and your family a wonderful festive season, and I thank you for your continued support of RSG.
Thank you,
Farhan
