Relationship
- You must be legally married or be in a defacto relationship for at least 12 months prior to lodgement;
- You and your spouse/partner must be in a mutually exclusive relationship;
- Your relationship must be genuine and continuing; and
- You and your spouse/partner must either live together, or live apart on a temporary basis only.
Evidence of Relationship
You must provide documents as evidence to satisfy all 4 pillars of the relationship:
- Financial;
- E.g., joint bank account, joint ownership, joint liabilities, etc.
- Social;
- E.g., travel documents, social media posts, social activities, etc.
- Household; and
- E.g., shared household bills, same residential address,
- Level of Commitment.
- E.g., combined affairs, plans for a shared future, wills, etc.
Required documents will vary based on each couple’s unique circumstances. We will consult you on the best documents to provide and lodge the visa application on your behalf.
After 2 years, if the relationship is still ongoing, you will be eligible for permanent residency. On average, the processing times are between 12 months and 31 months. So don’t delay the reunion any longer, start the process now!
